Shenyang Sinochem Agrochemicals R&D Co., Ltd. received a group of over 10 central media including Xinhua News Agency, People's Daily, Workers' Daily, Huanqiu.com, and China.com.cn, etc. on Jul. 11, which visited the pesticide discovery business of Sinochem. The activity was an important part of the “New Media Approaching New State-owned Enterprises” media visit activities.
The Strategic Business Unit of Chemicals held a Media Communication Meeting themed by “Boosting Agriculture Harvests through Pesticide Discovery” in the Meeting Room on the second floor of the company. In the morning of Jul. 11, where Xu Weichang, Vice President of the Strategic Business Unit of Chemicals and President of Shenyang Research Institute of Chemical Industry, Ke Xiting, Office Director of the Strategic Business Unit of Chemicals and News Spokesman of Sinochem International, Sun Ke, General Manager of Shenyang Sinochem Agrochemicals R&D Co., Ltd., and pesticide research scientists Liu Changling, Liu Junli and Yu Haibo, etc. were present and answered questions of reporters.
Director Ke Xiting firstly gave an overview of the Chemicals Business Unit and the position of the agrochemical business in the eight business segments to the visiting reporters. Then, President Xu Weichang briefed the over 60 years of pesticide R&D history of Shenyang Research Institute of Chemical Industry and summarized important contributions of Sinochem to China’s pesticide industry development in each R&D stage “from trial production to imitation to discovery”. General Manager Sun Ke gave an overview of the domestic and foreign agrochemical markets and technology development trends at present and introduced the current pesticide R&D resources and next development initiatives of Shenyang Sinochem Agrochemicals R&D Co., Ltd. Professor Yu Haibo emphatically introduced the development history of the star product 9625 (“Baozhuo”) and the important contributions made by the 9625 acaricide product discovered by Sinochem to the solution of agricultural mite damage in China.
In the media Q&A session, reporters asked questions about the position of Sinochem in the international agrochemical market, next R&D focuses, and people’s concerns about pesticide, etc. and had in-depth exchanges with the scientists face to face.
The group of media visited the State Key Laboratory of the Discovery and Development of Novel Pesticide after the Conference, where scientists Yu Haibo, Chou Jingyu, and Liu Junli, etc. accompanied them and explained in detail the whole process of pesticide discovery and R&D including new compound design, synthesis, bioactivity screening, process development, and preparation development, etc.
