ISO Technical Committee of Pesticide’s Common Name approved temporarily as the common name of tetrachlorantraniliprole in March 2018. The common name is tetrachlorantraniliprole.

The tetrachlorantraniliprole, researched and developed by Shenyang Sinochem Agrochemicals R&D Co., Ltd., is the first pyrazolecarboxamide insecticide in China and the third in the world. The invention patents of core compounds were authorized by China, India, Vietnam, Indonesia, Philippines, Europe, America and Brazil.

The Herbicide R&D Department focuses on large-scale structural transformation for the substituent on the pyrazole ring based on chlorantraniliprole. When 3,5-dichloropyridine radical was introduced into the pyrazole ring structure, such compounds were accidentally found to have high insecticidal activity. Through continuous “trial and error” and “misarrangement”, the compound tetrachlorantraniliprole with high insecticidal activity was founded finally in 2008, and the R&D code was SYP-9080.

Tetrachlorantraniliprole has low toxicity to mammal, safety to non-target organisms, such as bees, birds. Tetrachlorantraniliprole is temporarily registered in 2013 and formally registered in 2017, and used for preventing and curing rice leaf folder, European corn borer and laphygma exigua hubner. Tetrachlorantraniliprole was sold from 2014. The cumulative application area is about 40 billion m2-time over the four years, which promotes the decrement of pesticide and replacement of high-toxicity insecticide in China, and obtains better economic benefits and social benefits.
